St Agnes to St Marys, Gig Race Painting by Cornish Artist Lindsey Keates

£1,725.00

68x100cm Framed.

Created in 2010, following her first painting of many years, titled ‘Waters Churning’, completed on 24th Feb 2010, tragically the same day Lindsey and her family lost her husbands relations in an RTA at Hayle, known as the Two Sisters Accident.

“After selling Waters Churning, as I detested the painting, I created St Agnes to St Marys, a knee jerk response if you like and wrote a poem called Summers Haze, when I could not sleep”.

Lindsey took this painting to St Marys, Isles of Scilly and displayed it at ‘The Mermaid Inn during the championships, by way of tribute to her late Mother in law and her Sister.

“Janice was an Environmental Scientist, therefore it was fitting to develop my work in this direction, Until ‘Blue Planet’ the TV series was launched I had not really considered my Artistic path, it was more an emotional response, which gave our family something new to talk about after such a shocking time.

I reinvested in new canvas each time I sold a painting and now I have over 200, Im very proud of this achievement.”

“Many thanks to Irene at the pub, who let me showcase my work back then, I perhaps would not of continued, if she had said no.”
